Licensed Mental and Professional Counselor
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida, as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I hold a dual Bachelor’s of Art degree in Psychology and Criminology, and a Master’s of Art degree in Mental Health Counseling. In addition to formal schooling, I have advanced training in Gottman Method, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
I have been working in the social services field for over a decade, in various settings to include inpatient psychiatric units, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs, community mental health centers, provided home-based services and private psychotherapy practices. In these different settings, I have worked with survivors of domestic violence, interpersonal and combat trauma, as well as individuals struggling with depression, anxiety and substance abuse issues.
I answered the call into the helping profession because I recognized the importance of being seen, heard, respected and supported. Having served a wide range of communities, I have also had the humbling opportunity to support the strongest of the strong, and reminding them that it takes strength and courage to ask for help. Being a therapist is more than just my chosen profession, but a part of who I am.
In addition to my role as a therapist, I am a married, mother of two, a United States Air Force veteran, an aspiring runner and recovering people pleasing, perfectionist. Most importantly, I am a "human" making my way through the peaks and valleys of life. I can appreciate the importance of having a tribe, and I strive to be a part of your community of support as an ally, as safe place, as a witness to your life's journey.
