Offering Individual Counseling, Couples Counseling and Group Therapy in Melbourne Florida

What is psychotherapy...

Psychotherapy is different from other medical or health procedures, in that therapy is not “done” to you.  Instead, the outcomes depends largely on one's willingness to engage in the process and practice learned skills outside of session.  It is also important to note that reflecting on unpleasant events and becoming aware of feelings attached to those events can bring on strong feelings of anger, depression, anxiety, grief and shame.  However, before we can heal a hurt, we must be willing and capable of feeling it.  While I cannot promise to solve all the problems that brought you into therapy.  I can promise to support you, to do my very best to understand you and help you understand yourself, to assist you in recognizing your patterns, as well as clarifying and pursuing your goals.

     Through therapy, you can:

  • Attain a better understanding of yourself, your values, your needs and your desires,
  • Manage and tolerate feelings of anxiety, grief, and depression,
  • Learn to establish and maintain functional boundaries,
  • Adopt healthy ways of communicating needs and wants,
  • Recognize relationship patterns and learn interpersonal effectiveness skills,
  • Enhance decision-making and problem-solving abilities for implementation in daily life,
  • Learn new ways to cope with and manage distress, and
  • Improve your self compassion and boost self confidence

How I am different...

My counseling style is active and collaborative, meaning that our time together will include dialogue and interactive exchange.  I also believe in the use of metaphors, as life's lessons are all around us.  Humor is another component of my personality that I bring into the clinical relationship, because in the midst of struggle and pain, a slight chuckle can remind us that all is not lost.

In therapy, our clinical work will be recovery and relationally focused.  Recovery being less about the behaviors one is attempting to avoid, and more reflective of the new life to be recovered.  Viewed from this perspective, recovery includes developing sobriety from mood-altering substances, as well as recovering a life free of harmful behaviors, self-defeating thought patterns and destructive relationships.  Individuals are typically guided and limited by their learned experiences, and since few individuals receive formal education on "life", it is understandable that when "life happens", outside assistance may be necessary. Therapy provides the opportunity to re-learn, or learn for the first time, wellness life and relationship skills.

Fees and Insurance

My fees range from $110 to $135 per session.  Counseling Alliance, LLC and Tiffanie Trudeau, LMHC, LPC are in-network with select private insurance companies.  If you are eligible, Counseling Alliance, LLC will file insurance claims on your behalf, and will honor any contractual agreements with managed health care companies.  For insurance plans for which a contractual agreement has not been established, I am considered an “out-of-network” provider, meaning that I am unable to accept direct insurance reimbursement from your insurance company for counseling or therapy sessions.  If you chose to self-pay and submit claims on your own, you will responsible for the full self-pay rate as indicated above and will be provided a monthly statement to assist in the self-submittal process, should that benefit be available to you.  Payments and fees, including any required co-payments, are due at the time service is rendered.  It is highly encouraged that you verify your benefits and coverage to ensure you are prepared for any subsequent financial obligations incurred by ongoing counseling.

Since counseling is not a luxury to be experienced solely by the wealthy, no individual will be denied treatment due to their inability to pay. Please contact me to discuss Affordable Mental Health Counseling options and my partnerships with the Open Path Psychotherapy Collective and Give an Hour.

Scheduling and appointments

When scheduling a first appointment, I prefer to briefly discuss your concerns by phone to be certain that I will be the best clinical fit, as well as answer any initial questions you may have.  Please feel free to contact me at (321) 425-4405 to discuss your counseling needs or to schedule an appointment.  If you are ready now, I offer self-scheduling through my Client Portal.

I normally conduct an evaluation that will last from 1 to 2 sessions. During this time, we can decide if I am the best therapist to provide the services you are seeking in order to achieve your life goals.  Once our therapeutic relationship has been established and psychotherapy has begun, I typically schedule one 50-minute session (also known as a “clinical hour”) per week, at an agreed upon time.  Please note, in some instances, sessions may be longer or more frequent, as dictated by your clinical needs.

Confidentiality

I am committed to confidentiality, and I believe that the information shared and disclosed in session belongs to you.  The law also protects the privacy of all communications between a client and a therapist.  Under the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI) (such as the contents of a counseling session) is restricted unless the records in questions are the subject of a judge-issued subpoena, are related to reasonable suspicions of child or elder abuse or related to personal endangerment such as credible homicidal or suicidal threats.  Additionally, records can be released at the expressed written and verbal consent of the client of whom the records pertain.  Since therapeutic alliance is based on trust and honest, any instance in which confidential information is released, Tiffanie will provide advance verbal and written notice.

Cancellation Policy

Practice makes progress, and consistency brings stability.  Therapy can be the ultimate form of self-care, and making therapy a priority is also making yourself a priority.  In my practice, I adhere to a 24 hour cancellation policy.  It is respectfully requested that any changes to your scheduled session be made with as much advance notice as practical.  Since, I recognize that "life" happens, telephonic and tele-therapy options are also available.
